Further, a number of small and artisanal businesses are impacted especially in rural areas.
Today the reliance is on civil society to make a difference and impact.

From all this grief, Daniel Sadek and Rachel Semaan, two Lebanese-Americans who have family and friends directly impacted by the catastrophe that happened in the heart of Beirut have launched the “Revive Mar Mikhael Beirut” initiative with Local Host to restore peoples homes and lives. After the Beirut blast, "This is Lebanon" instantly realized there is NOTHING for most domestic workers in Lebanon except for despair and slavery. They need to get out. They were already weakened in their ability to negotiate with employers and agencies to get them paid and released. Now they are powerless. Instead of negotiating with agents, agents try to extort money from them to let the worker go, even when the worker is deathly ill. Vast numbers are not getting paid, less will get paid as time goes on. If or when severe food shortages hit Lebanon, as many predict they will, some employers will feed their pets before their workers. In our view, there is only ONE option left: repatriate all unpaid and underpaid workers, and keep them safe until they can go home.

Beirut has witnessed a devastating blast leaving hundreds dead, thousands injured and hundreds of thousands homeless.
The offices at St Georges Hospital University Medical Center (from where IDRAAC operates), were destroyed and the hospital suffered extensive damage leaving it nonfunctional for the first time in its 150 years of existence. Even worse, they lost 4 nurses (including one from the psychiatry unit), 12 patients and a visitor!
The psychological impact of this catastrophe is HUGE! This came in addition to the dire economic situation that Lebanon is going through and the COVID-19 pandemic.
From day one, IDRAAC activated a special hotline to be able to support anyone needing psychological help. They also started a walk in clinic providing care to any person affected from that blast.
Your support is greatly needed for the sake of mental health in Lebanon!
They need to rebuild the inpatient and outpatient facilities as well as well continue offering FREE services to any person affected from the blast.
